- _u_u_c_p_d allows the use of incoming UUCP connections over TCP/IP. The
- UUCP/TCP server operates at the port indicated in the _u_u_c_p service
- description; see _s_e_r_v_i_c_e_s(4). The server is normally started by
- _i_n_e_t_d(1M).
-
- Any of the UUCP protocols supported by _u_u_c_i_c_o can be used, but 'e' and
- 't' are most common.
-
- _u_u_c_p_d relies primarily on the authentication mechanisms of _u_u_c_i_c_o.
- However, it first obtains a username and password from the remote system,
- and checks them in much the same way as _g_e_t_t_y and _l_o_g_i_n. The shell,
- username, UID, and so forth for the account should the same as for a UUCP
- connection using modems. An additional restriction is that the shell of
- the account must be the _u_u_c_i_c_o program.
-
- The /_e_t_c/_n_o_l_o_g_i_n file is honored by _u_u_c_i_c_o.
-
- The _u_u_c_p_d options are:
-
- ----nnnn (or nnnnoooossssttttrrrriiiipppp) Turns off the stripping to 7-bits of the user
- name and password that is normal done before they are
- checked.
-
- ----aaaa Verifies that the remote hostname and address match on all
- incoming connections.
-
- ----xxxx _n_u_m Causes _u_u_c_i_c_o to be invoked with ----xxxx _n_u_m. _n_u_m must be a
- single digit.
-
- ----LLLL _l_o_g_f_i_l_e Records the chatting for username and password in _l_o_g_f_i_l_e.
-
- ----uuuu _c_m_d Specifies that _c_m_d instead of /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_u_u_c_p/_u_u_c_i_c_o must be
- the shell of the account.
